UCGIS Congressional Breakfast
Call for Presentations
The 2004 Congressional breakfast will focus on homeland security and related issues. Members of UCGIS institutions doing funded research in this area are invited to present their work at this event. The audience will include members of Congress, their staff, and representatives of federal agencies.
The breakfast will take place at the Capitol itself. It is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 8:30 – 10:00 AM. The program will be tight, with 5-6 speakers each allowed 7-10 minutes. We hope to present a range of issues: e.g., emergency response, bio-terrorism, real-time geographic monitoring systems, evacuation, risk analysis, mitigation, privacy issues, etc.
Please submit your presentation proposal to Will Craig, chair of the Policy & Legislation Committee, by Wednesday, November 26. Include the following:
Title of Project or Submission
Name, affiliation, address, phone, fax and e-mail of proposed lead presenter
Short project description which describes the objectives of the work, significance of the project in advancing science or addressing an important problem, activities undertaken, methods employed, and broader impacts of the activity. No more than 500 words please.
Funding sources and names of any collaborators on the project. Given the audience, priority will be given to federally funded projects.
