UCGIS 2015 Symposium

Join us at our 2015 Symposium as we celebrate UCGIS's 20th anniversary!  We will pursue our theme this year, GIScience Knowledge to Action, by engaging with many geospatial leaders from the world of Federal government, non-profit organizations, and academia.  Be inspired by our speakers, contribute and participate actively during our sessions, and enjoy the collegial camaraderie of being with your GIScience peers and colleagues.  

GroupSustainable Systems and New Directions in Sensors, Tracking, and Surveillance are the two sub-themes around which we will focus, with plenary presentations, lightning talks, and break-out discussions.

This Symposium will be held at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, from Thursday May 28 - Saturday May 30, 2015.  Hotel reservations at our deeply discounted rates are now available.  



For our 20th Anniversary Celebration, we will hold a reception at the Library of Congress, following a presentation by Congressional Staff on GIS and geo-data use in Congress. 


WorkshopsFive different Pre-Symposium Workshops will be held on Wednesday, May 27.  Topics include Spatial SQL, Mobile Mapping, a PhD School for Navigating and Thriving in the GIScience Landscape, Geographic Approaches to Environmental Impact Assessment, and Fostering Sustainability.
